will observe that this scale would link up, roughly on the basie suggested in paragaph 2 above, with the present scales for Radio- graphers and Pharmacists. Consideration might also be given to the possibility of combining the scale with that of Senior Health Inspectors to make one long scale for both posts with a maximum of $12,480 a year; if you agree to adopt this long scale the scales for Pharmacists and Radiographers should also be altered to rise to a máximum “of $12,480.

6. With regard to the retrospective introduction of improved scales with effect from the 1st January, 1947, for which the petitioners ask, I consider that the salaries revision carried out as a result of the Salaries Commission Report should now be regarded as fully effective and that as a consequence the revised scales which I have suggested above should be introduced from a current date. I also consider that it would be appropriate if the petitioners benefitted to the extent that all Health Inspectors Grade I should be placed in the revised salary scale at the point which they would
